Meet the officers of Ultimate Palestine
Ibrahim HajPresident
Ibrahim started playing Ultimate in 2016 while studying mechanical engineering in Amman, Jordan. He joined the Amman-based “Bedouin Falcons” team and competed with them in the 2016 and 2017 MENA Ultimate Club Championships. Later he joined the leadership team of the Jordan Flying Disc Federation (JFDF) as a development officer where he facilitated and organized projects in Amman. After finishing his studies and moving back to his hometown of Ramallah in 2018, Ibrahim quickly assumed a leadership role with Ultimate Palestine, and started weekly practices in Ramallah. Quickly enough he served as the development director of Ultimate Palestine 2019-2020, until he was elected as the new president in June 2020. As president he will lead the executive committee as Ultimate Palestine continues to develop and grow the sport throughout Palestine.
Saeid Abu ZulufDevelopment Director - West Bank
Saeid is from Beit Sahour and started playing Ultimate in 2017 along with some of his friends. He competed with the Koofiya Palestinian club team at the 2017 MENA Ultimate Club Championships in Amman, Jordan, and has competed in a number of local tournaments since then. In February 2018 he became the Ultimate coordinator of the Arab Orthodox Club of Beit Sahour, and has coached Ultimate in Beit Sahour as well as Jerusalem. Saeid is thoroughly passionate about Ultimate and seeks through his position as the West Bank Director of Development to see Ultimate grow and become well established in Palestine.
Mohammad AbedDevelopment Director - Gaza Strip
Mohammad is a basketball player and a fitness coach from the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip. He was introduced to Ultimate at an Ultimate coach training run by Daniel Bannoura in partnership with GIZ in 2020. He immediately fell in love with the sport and started to coach it at the Nuseirat Club in Rafah. As the Gaza Strip Development Director, he is committed to the establishment of Ultimate throughout the clubs of Gaza, particularly amongst the younger generations. He aims to make the culture of Ultimate an essential part of the general athletic culture in Palestine, and provide the opportunity for Gazan players to represent Palestine at regional and international competitions.
Samer BannouraFinance Officer
Samer started playing with Ultimate Palestine in 2015. He was first introduced to the game by a friend, and was hooked immediately. He quickly was involved in Ultimate activities and helped facilitate a number of hat tournaments that Ultimate Palestine has organized. He competed in a number of local competitions, as well as the 2016 and 2017 MENA Ultimate Club Championships. An accountant by training, Samer is in charge of managing the budget and merchandise of Ultimate Palestine.
Jiana IseadCommunications Director
Jiana started playing ultimate in 2009 through her sports instructor. She later joined Ultimate Peace and practiced with them for multiple years before Ultimate Palestine was established. She received a coaching certificate through Ultimate Peace’s Coach in Training (CIT) program, and competed at the MENA Ultimate Club Championship in 2016. She started playing with Ultimate Palestine in 2016, and worked with Daniel Bannoura to start an Ultimate practice at Birzeit University, where she was doing her undergraduate studies. She also joined the “Camaleones Ultimate Málaga” team during her study abroad program in Malaga, Spain in 2018. After graduation, she moved back to Beit Sahour. As the current
communications director of Ultimate Palestine, she manages Ultimate Palestine’s social media pages as well as its official website. Nael AwwadSpirit Captain - West bank
Nael was introduced to Ultimate by a high school friend in 2016, and soon after joined the Beit Sahour Ultimate practices. He competed in the 2016 and 2017 MENA Ultimate Club Championships as well as a number of local and regional competitions. He received Ultimate coaching certification through the GIZ Sport for Development Training of Trainers program in Amman, Jordan in 2019. He now coaches Ultimate in a number of schools in the Bethlehem area. As the West Bank Spirit captain, Nael organizes activities and programming that bolster the practice and application of Spirit of the Game among players both on and off the field.
Maha ShabatSpirit Captain - Gaza Strip
Maha is a teacher at UNRWA schools in the Gaza Strip, a football coach at the Beit Hanoun club, and a volleyball coach through the “Sports for Smiles” program that is organized by GIZ, a German development organization. Like Mohammad Abed, she was introduced to Ultimate in January 2020 through the coaches training run by Daniel Bannoura. In her role as the Gaza Strip Spirit Captain, Maha will organize Ultimate programming alongside Mohammad Abed and oversee the expansion and growth of Ultimate in the Gaza Strip.
